Happy New Year!

To all of my online friends I want to extend to you my greetings and very best wishes for a happy and safe new year! My prayer for each of you is that God would provide perfectly all you truly need, grant comfort and courage where they are particularly needed, and a wonderful sense of peace and security,
knowing He is faithful.
Thank you all so much for your encouragement and friendship!

The card above was made for all of you, but also to honor two of my favorite "places" to shop:
Everything on the card is from those stores:
The die cuts- "Anglaise Lace Circles" & "Card Creator" (rectangles) are Spellbinders, available at SS very reasonably (+ lots of sale items!)
The rhinestones are from there too.
The digital colored images (& sentiment) and digital polka dot papers are all from DD,
and they also are very reasonably priced!
Both stores have a large selection and great products...AND great service!

Well, enjoy your celebrating with family and friends!
Blessings to you all!

Word Art Wednesday...All About Faith

I went to visit the Word Art Wednesday blog and saw that their theme this week is FAITH.
The theme verse is Hebrews 11:1...the one I have stamped on my card.
The stamp I used is from Verve.

One of my daughters, Emily...she is a total bargain hunter like me (!)....found these Christmas/winter decorations on sale and gave me some as part of my Christmas present. It was a package of glitter snowflakes and words that were supposed to be "table confetti" but they are the perfect size die cuts to use on cards. I love how sparkley they are!

For once I am not going to list all of my"ingredients" but if you have a question about something just leave it as a comment.
I am entering this card in the Word Art Wednesday challenge #60:
"Faith/Anything Goes"
Thanks for looking!

Warm Winter Wishes...a Birthday Card!

Yesterday was Christmas and for us (hubby & me) it was a nice relaxed day. We had our family celebration on Saturday, so we had a nice quiet day: church in the morning with the little kids doing a wonderful, exuberant Christmas program (!) and a simple, quick brunch afterwards, then friends came mid-afternoon and we played cards, ate supper together and played more cards. SO relaxing!

On Christmas Eve day, however, I was busy creating a tutorial for a DT I am on. It is the StampingScrapping Techniques and Turtoials website : http://stampingscrappingtutorials.ning.com/ . But it is one that requires a monthly memebership fee (small) and has lots of perks BESIDES many, many great tutorials for paper-crafting, such as discount codes for the www.stampingscrapping.com online store, first chance at sale items, and monthly specials just for members.

So here is a card I made for my sister-in-law's birthday next week.

It is made almost completely with items from the StampingScrapping store. The only things not from there are the pearl drops in the flower center and the tiny roses. Those are from my friend MariLynn in Iowa who made them herself and sent them as a wonderful surprise gift to each member of our former DT.
(Thanks again, MariLynn!)

My list of supplies used:

Spellbinders Card Creator A & B
Spellbinders Shapeabilities Die D-Lites “Window Two”
Corner-Rounder from Creative Memories
Sizzix Bigz Die, Tim Holtz “Elegant Flourishes”
Card Creator “Wedding 1” stamp from StampingScrapping
“Sentamints” Stamping Scrapping stamps
“Rose Fleur de Lis” StampingScrapping Spellinders-matching stamps
Memento “Bamboo Leaves” Dye Ink
Stampabilities Pigment Ink “Lime” & Dye Ink “Black”
Colored pencils, various brands
Flatback Pearls, Ivory from Pizzaz Aplenty
Spectrum Noir markers
StampingScrapping “Color Me” flowers
Glue Dots
Redline Wonder Tape & Scor Tape & 3M Adhesive Tape
K.I. Memories metal sticker “Enchanting”
Small handmade roses, leaves & branches- all from my stash

Well, I sure hope you had a blessed, enjoyable day yesterday!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by here. Please leave a little comment to let me know you were here! Then I can visit you too!

Happy Birthday, Lilly!

Merry Christmas, everyone!
One more card before the end of the year...this one a birthday card for my 3-year old granddaughter, Lilly. Her birthday is December 25th...yes, she was born on Christmas day! In some ways that is so very special, to share a birthday with Jesus, but in other ways its not so nice, like getting presents only once a year. And the birthday celebration pretty much gets lost in all the other celebrations. My daughter, Emily, is thinking of celebrating Lilly's half-year birthday in the summer instead.

But here is a cute "little girl" card I made using a Daydream Designs image that I colored myself with my Spectrum Noir and Memento markers. I just love the adorable little princess all bundled up for playing in the snow! This picture shows all the sparkle I added (Stickles "Icicle").

And this picture shows the coloring just a bit better.
The edge punch I used is the Martha Stewart "Doily Lace" and the side edge is the back page of the card.
The background paper is a digital design from Daydream Designs called "Peppermints and Snowflakes" from the Sweet Warm Ups set. The little girl is from the Snowbaby Outline Digi set....and the snowballs too!

Winter Challenge at SOS

This week at Shopping Our Stash we are having a special challenge...a two-week challenge so we can all take a tiny break for Christmas! This is Challenge #82 and it runs from December 18 through December 31. The theme is Winter...but NOT holiday...just anything that makes you think "winter", like snow, mittens, penguins, polar bears, sleds, a fireplace, hot cocoa, snowmen, etc. I went with snow and pine trees.

The ink I used to stamp the tree (Stampin' Up) and the HB sentiment (Stampin' Up ) is Tim Holtz "Evergreen" distress ink. I actually found the exact same color cardstock for the main card, then used kraft, dark brown and white...all from my stash of scraps. The white background is embossed with the Sizzix folder called "Evergreen"... do you see a theme here? The snowflakes are punches I bought on ebay long ago (brand...??). I added Stickles "Star Dust" to the flakes and the tree. The die cut is a Spellbinders, from the "Pendant Fleur de Lis" set.

My pictures don't show all the sparkle very well, but it IS there...lots of it!
Thanks for stopping by today! Please come play along in the SOS "Winter" challenge that lasts all this week AND next!
Merry Christamas to you all!

Shopping Our Stash- Challenge #81

Happy Tuesday, Everyone! Hope you are having a good week! I finally feel more caught up around home and able to concentrate on Christmas preparations. Christmas cards are ready to go in the mail tomorrow and I am headed out Christmas shopping with my oldest daughter, Kate, tomorrow, too!
So for our challenge this week at SOS we are asking for a card or project that has as its main focus a sentiment...no images allowed...just a sentiment and the usual decorations/bling, etc. If you are not sure what I mean by that, go to our blog and look at the DT examples (or you can find them in my sidebar). And here is mine:

Because the sentiment is a Bible verse, I am entering this in the weekly challenge at http://WordArtWednesday.blogspot.com ,too. The verse from James 1 was one the freebies they offered a few months ago. They have a new freebie and challenge every week. And a very talented DT!

List of ingredients used:
Spellbinders dies- "Labels 20" & "Fleur de Lis Squares"
Tim Holtz Sizzix die- "Elegant Flourishes"
Matching stamp- JustRite "Fleur de Lis Labels 20"
Tim Holtz Distress Ink- "Antique Linen" & Distress Stickles, "Spun Sugar"
The pale pink ink is from Joanne
Patterned cardstock- K&Company "Julianne"
Solid cardstock- from my stash (i.e. I don't know! LOL)
Ribbon- recycled from a gift last year
Flowers & leaves- Pizzazz Aplenty, 1" Cherry Blosom &
Mulberry Open Roses
Lg flower is layered and colored using Spectrum Noir markers- from StampingScrapping.com
The one tiny pink rosebud was hand-made by a friend and gifted to me a while back (about 12 of them)...I have been saving them for something special! This is the first one I've used! (Thanks, MariLynn!)
Pearls- 4mm Lt. Coffee & 4mm Chocolate from Pizzazz Aplenty
Leaf branch punch- Martha Stewart "Frond"

Most of my stash is a few years old now, but some of it is really, really old because I glean things from Goodwill, and garage sales  and estate sales...and when we cleaned out my 87-year-old mother's house I took most of her sewing stuff. For example, the tiny yellow dots in the flower center are from a package of craft supplies that looked to be 30+ years old which I found at a local thrift store.

Thanks for stopping by today!

3 Cards for Daydream Designs DT

Peace, Hope, Joy...that is what I pray you will experience during this special time of year! Christmas is just around the corner...are you ready? It should be such a joyous time of celebrating the birth of Christ, the Savior of mankind...but I know it can also be a very stressful time. May each of you be blessed with the true peace and joy that comes only from knowing the Savior...the Hope of the world!

I am on the DT at Daydream Designs, a wonderful digital image/paper store online, that has amazing new stuff coming out almost every week! The first card (above) has a base layer of red print called "KBsnowflakes8-red" from the Elegant Snowflakes set; also from that set is the next layer, the green print called "Flakes-SL-MdGreen", which is die cut using Spellbinders "Pendants- Fleur de Lis". The next layer is also cut from the die using a recycled piece of a gold foil box. The top layer, white cs from my stash, is the die cut called "Labels 4"; distressed a bit while still in the die using Tim Holtz "Antique Linen". The sentiment I printed from my computer using the Daydream Designs set called Christmas Blessings. The 4 little gems are "5mm Red Rhinestone Squares" from Pizzazz Aplenty.

My next card features 2 brand new digi sets that just came out called Sweet Warm Ups -one is Digi Papers and the other is the Color Digi set (images + sentiments). So pretty and fun to work with!
I like the warm colors...nice and cozy for a cold winter day, don't you think?

The bottom layer of paper on this card is a piece of pink foil gift wrap (!); then the next layer up is two digi prints from the Sweet Warm Ups set, they're called "Cocoa Mugs- Cream" & "Stripes- Diagonal"; the layer behind the "Let's warm up together" is called "Coffee Words"; the sentiments are, of course, from the Sentiments set.

Once again I've used the "Pendants- Fleur de Lis" die along with "Labels 15". And I distressed the edges while still in the dies again. I like the soft, yet clean and crisp look that gives. The brown cs, brown ribbon, and cream twine are all from my stash. The bling is "3mm Dk Chocolate Pearls" and "2mm & 4mm Pink Rhinestones" from Pizzazz Aplenty. Those I adhere with glue, but for the ribbon I use Glue Dots.
Ooooooo...I just remembered something I have in my craftroom and haven't used since last Christmas: scented oil! I have a Christmas scent, a mint and maybe a chocolate. Hmmm...might have to add that!

Well, on to the the last of the three: a simple Merry Christmas card. This one uses a digi image, nicely pre-colored, called "Holly Wreath" from the Deck the Halls Color Set.

The set has a nice variety of wreaths...some with bows, some with poinsettias...all ready to resize and print for a very easy, elegant card.

The sentiment is from the Christmas Blessings set (shown above). For my background I used plain white, embossed it with the Sizzix folder called "Dots, Circles & Stars".

The wreath is attached with foam dots so the scalloped edge shows up better. That die is the Spellbinders "Scalloped Circles Lg". I added a dark red ribbon and, of course, the finishing touch: Sickles "Star Dust" on the holly berries!
Well, I hope you have enjoyed my little showcasing of these amazing digital images and papers from Daydream Designs.
Have a peaceful, hopeful, joyful week, my friends!

SOS Challenge #80 "Snow/Winter"

Sorry I have been away for a bit...very busy time of year and we are in the process of becoming "empty-nesters"! We moved one of our boys into his own house a week and a half ago...first had to do LOTS of cleaning! But OUR house is actually looking a little bit emptier....now for son #2....he will move into his own place hopefully in January. More packing and more cleaning. Yikes! I'm getting just a little sick of it! But it is really fun to see how excited they are. I will miss them though...they are great guys and we get along SO good. You know, its nice to feel needed! But, yes, my hubby will still need me. Its all good!

So this week I made a quick card for the challenge at Shopping Our Stash...I AM still on their DT.
I say "quick" because of the digi images and papers I used...made it super easy to coordinate everything! The digis are from Daydream Designs by Diane Noble and her co-designer, Kris Breach. The image set is called "Snowbabies Color Digi Set" and the matching digi papers are from the "Winter Chill" and "Winter Flakes" sets. The sentiment is from "Snowbabies Sentiments" (of course!). The punched snowflake I got on eBay and I'm not sure of the brand. They have a nice coating of Stickles "Star Dust" on them too. The snowballs are hand-drawn (by me!) but there are some included in the digi sets. I knew I wanted to draw the "splatted" snowball on the inside so I just drew all of them and fussy-cut them.

The border punch is a Martha Stewart..."Doily", I think.
Well, now that its done, I'm not sure who to send it to...some people I don't want to encourage to throw snowballs because I have a good idea who they'd throw them at!
I hope you can join our challenge this week at SOS: you have two choices, either the one I used, "Snow/Winter" or "Christmas/Hanukkah".
Thanks for stopping by today!

SOS Challenge 78 ~LEAVES~

If you are looking for the Daydream Designs Blog Hop, please scroll down to the next post!
At Shopping Our Stash this week we have a really fun challenge using leaves!
Challenge 78 :  "I'm Leafing it up to You" - use a leaf or many leaves on your project! Images of leaves are fine too...plants, trees, etc. and/or dimensional leaves- punches, die cuts, prima-esque, etc.
Lots of possibilities there!

The card I came up with uses the same oak leaf stamp (SU) that I used on another card recently...yes, it is an old favorite (a garage-sale find!). I once again made a background paper with the stamp, then spritzed it with Smooch Spritz.
The cardstock is all from my stash; the dies used are some fairly new ones from Spellbinder called "Fleur de Lis Squares"; the real leaves I used are some tiny ones I found last year in our woods and pinned them on my bulletin board in my craftroom (they've been hanging there over a year and are a bit brittle!); the sentiment is the Bible text that is offered as a digital image this week at Word Art Wednesday. I am entering this card in their challenge.
Since I just love trees and leaves this was an easy assignment this week. I hope you like leaves too and will join in our challenge this week. For more inspiration visit our main blog and/or the DT members' blogs. Lots of really talented ladies!

But before you hop away, here is a card that I made using several different digital images/papers from Daydream Designs (listed below).

Well, I'm not 100% satisfied with my card...it seems to "need" something! But I just love the green background paper and didn't want to cover up the design much. It is called "KBsnowflakes8-VL-Green" from the Elegant Snowflakes set, from Daydream Designs (of course!). The light green polka dot paper is also from DDD; its called "Green with Green" from the Dotty Pastels set. The red on the 2 corners is from them too! It is called "Red-Leaves" from the Fall Papers set.
The 2 dies I used are Spellbinders: Labels 4 and Fleur de Lis Squares.
The sentiment (Cheer) is ALSO from a DDD set: Christmas Blessings!
Rhinestones and ribbon are from my stash.

November Anniversary Card

This anniversary card is for my daughter Emily and son-in-law David. They celebrated their anniversary and Emily's birthday by going out for dinner to one of the fanciest restaurants in the city! Dave likes to do things up right...and pamper his wife whenever he can.

I am entering this one in 2 challenges. The 1st one is http://dutchcardlovers.blogspot.com - a sketch.
 DCL #163

The 2nd one is http://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com - the challenge is
"Make your own background"

I have done that several times before so this sounded fun and they gave suggestions for new things to try...so I did! I used watercolor paints; I painted the stamp (oak leaves) with a brush after mixing just the shades I wanted. I repeated the stamp several times...the first one was kinda "blobby" but looked alright when it dried. I then spritzed the papers with Smooch Spritz in an amber color, so it is shimmery.

My list of ingredients used:
Oak tree and leaves stamps are Stampin' Up
TH Distress Ink - Antique Linen
Metalic gold cardstock is a fiber paper from Paper Studio
Other cs, bias tape, gold string, tag and brads are all from my stash.
Thanks for stopping bu today!

Shopping Our Stash- #77 "Thank You"

With the Thanksgiving holiday fast approaching, this week at SOS the challenge is simply to make a Thanksgiving card OR a Thank You card. I have several Thanksgiving cards made already so I decided to go with the 2nd option. YOU can make either one (or both!) for this challenge (#77) at Shopping Our Stash.

The flower on my card was sort of an experiment...I saw one like it on a blog I often visit because I absolutely love her creations! Her name is Julie and she is uber-talented; she's from London, England, and I just love her style! The flower is made from Nestie circle die cuts and the button in the center is really old: its been in an old button tin that moved with me from our first house at least 16 years ago. The aqua paper is from one of the packages of scraps you can buy at Hobby Lobby (like I needed more scraps!). The embossing folder is called "Flourish Dots" from Sizzix; the Thank You stamp is from Stampcraft; the die cut leaves are Spellbinders "Foliage"& the square is "Labels 15"; ribbon and gems are from my stash.
I hope you feel inspired to join in this challenge this week!
THANK YOU for stopping by!

"Think Pink" Christmas Card

This evening while we are anxiously waiting for the election results to come in I spent a little time in my craftroom. I knew there was a challenge ending tonight for a Christmas card with pink on it and I thought that sounded just lovely! So here is what I made:

It is PSC54: "Think Pink for Christmas"

The lovely wreath is a colorized digi image, one of the "Deck the Halls" set, from Daydream Designs. Their new Christmas digis and digital paper packs just came out and they are GORGEOUS!!

The embossing folder I used is a Cuttlebug called "Madison"...a new favorite of mine!

The grey and pink cardstocks are from my stash as is the silver string. I used Stickles "Stardust" on the poinsettia centers and Pop Dots to adhere the wreath. The sentiment is computer generated.

Shopping Our Stash #76 "Oh what a deal!"

This week at Shopping Our Stash the challenge is:
Best Deal Ever - create something using one of your best bargain/had to have it- it was on sale! purchases (be sure to tell us what it is).
I am a real "bargain hunter", "deal finder", "hollander", "clearance sale queen", etc. etc. so it was kind of hard to chose just one. I seldom buy anything unless it is on sale and a real deal! I remember starting to collect supplies for cardmaking when I first started and found a good-sized bag of the Flora Doodle glitter flowers on a half-price sale. They have lasted over 2 years, but I don't use them much any more...only for "little girl" cards. So here is my girly card for my granddaughter Pearl, who just turned 14. The photo is of her when she was just a sweet 5-year old.

I was running short on time so didn't do much on the inside of the card.

The dies used were Spellbinders "Scalloped Edge Frame" (inside) & "Labels 20"
The corner punch is a Martha Stewart - "Double Loops"
Ink: Memento "Tuxedo Black"
Stamps: HB is Imaginations
Bible verse is Verve Stamps
DP is K&Company, the "Julianne" collection
Glitter flowers - Flora Doodle

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you will join the challenge this week at SOS and show us what item(s) you got a bargain on and just HAD to have!

One more picture...as you can see I changed things a bit...just wasn't happy with "the look" of my card. So do you think this is an improvement or not?

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #75 "Flowers"

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #75
Flower Power- Use your handmade or 3-d flowers!  (your project can include stamped images but it also needs to have at least one flower that is either handmade or a 3-d flower you bought.  Think Wild Orchid Crafts, puffy stickers, Prima's, etc.)
Please join us this week at SOS with your card or project that includes a 3-d/handmade flower of some type! Can't wait to see what all you creative people come up with! For inspiration check out my fellow DT  members' blogs...listed in my sidebar!
My card features a flower called a "Gardenia" that I purchased at www.stampingscrapping.com about a year and a half ago...when they stopped selling them! Now they only carry the white ones (which you can color yourself!). The leaves and stem are Stampin' Up stamps; the HB stamp is from Bildmalarna.
The edge border punch is a Martha Stewart called "Doily".

I am also entering this card in the special anniversary blog hop challenge #4 at Perfect Sentiments.
The "challenge with a twist" was to make a card with a sentiment that has a bird or a bloom on it, or a combination of both! Obviously I did just the one flower!

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #163 "Time"

Wow! Time marches on...so quickly! Here it is the end of October already. Yikes! Are we ready for winter? With all the wind and rain we've had lately almost all the leaves are down in our woods already. We can see sunsets again!
This week I am honored to be the hostess of the challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ.
Here is my card:
A b-day card for my brother. Inside it says,
"Yes, little bro, it's time for another birthday! Hope it's happy!"

Challenge theme:
TIME - Use clocks/watches, calendars, sundials, etc. OR use black and white only (to represent night and day).

Sponsor:
Inspired Stamps - http://www.inspiredstamps.com/servlet/StoreFront   They are generously offering a$15 gift card to one randomly chosen winner from all participants!

Scripture:
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up;
A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace,
                                                                     And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away;
A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak;
A time to love,  And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.

On our main challenge blog (SSiC) I have a devotional about the scripture verses above. I actually chose this passage quite some time ago, before I knew I would be stepping down from this design team. But this is so very "timely"...yes, I have decided this will be my last week as a DT member of Stampin' Sisters in Christ. Life has gotten very busy and even though I have tremendously enjoyed my time on this great team, it is definitely time to focus on other things...like my family, my grandkids, my neglected Bible study group, my house cleaning (!), etc. etc. You get the idea! It has been wonderful getting to know these strong Christian women on this design team...I sure hope we work at keeping in touch! I thank them for the amazing influence they have been in my life the past six months. Through their prayers, devotionals, emails, and their creativity they have encouraged and inspired me. Love you girls! Thank you so much for sharing yourselves with me! Blessings to you all!

Please consider joining in this fun challenge this week. Make a card or project using the "Time" theme and link it up to the SSiC blog for a chance to win a lovely prize!

Shopping Our Stash Challenge # 74

Good morning! And Happy Tuesday! Are you ready for a new challenge at SOS!?
This week its a really fun one! Here's what we want you to do:

(decorate a jar) I chose that last one...use a real jar for something. I needed another button jar so I decorated one for white buttons. My craft room has kind of a black and white and pink theme so that's what I went with! What do you think?

Here's the "before" picture!
I will list my ingredients later today when I have a few minutes!
Thanks for stopping by today! Check out the SOS blog and my fellow DT members' sites for some inspiration...join our fun challenge this week!

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #162

Well, after taking a week off, I'm back! Refreshed...peaceful and calm! Fall camping...wonderful! We (DH and I) went to Pokagon State Park in Indiana for just 3 days. The first day, when we got there, was cold and wet and we stayed inside our little trailer reading (hubby) and crafting (me!). But Tuesday and Wednesday were absolutely beautiful! The sky was that deep blue you get only on really clear days and the leaves were just glowing in the sunshine. We biked and hiked until our legs felt like rubber! LOL
But now we are back home, refreshed and already immersed in reality!
God is good... all the time!

So here is this week's challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ!

Hostess:
The precious Peggysue!

Challenge:
Make a card that to you represents peace or calm; with an image, color scheme, CAS layout or verse, something that speaks peace to you, but peace symbols themselves are excluded. The card has to speak peace through your own style.

Scripture:
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33 (NIV)

Sponsor:
Daydream Designs (by our very own DT sweetie Diane Noble!)
She is generously offering a $20.00 gift voucher for store product to the one randomly chosen winner!

And here is the CAS card I came up with, using one of the pre-colored digital images from Daydream Designs (the "Sunflowers and Pumpkins Colorized" set):

(So sorry for the poor picture quality...I took this photo with my phone because
I loaned my camera to my daughter!)

Autumn is my favorite time of year! It does make me feel "Ahhhhhhh!" Yes, there is a bit of sadness about seeing plants die and the trees become bare but there is always the promise of spring and the wonderful reminder that God IS in control. And, yes! He has already won the victory! He has overcome the world... and sin, and death, and sadness! Because of that great truth I can experience peace and calm, and so can anyone who believes that Jesus Christ died to pay for our sins, then rose again victorious and has secured a place in heaven for us.
Please join in our challenge this week! For more inspiration you can visit the main blog at SSiC and also check out my fellow DT members' blogs which are all listed in my sidebar!
