Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #159

Hello Friends! Welcome to the next challenge at SSiC: MUSIC!
This week our hostess is Marilynn and she decided she wants to see some element of music in your project.
Our sponsor is Fred She Said, who is offering a $15 gift card to one randomly chosen winner.
You can visit their store to see some wonderful digital stamps!
The Bible passage that Marilyn chose and that inspired her to create this challenge is:

"Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Ephesians 5:19-20

Music...what a wonderful way to praise God! And we are commanded to "sing and make music", along with giving thanks for everything! As we look forward to Thanksgiving this is a great verse that reminds us of one way to show our thankfulness is to use music in praising and worshipping our God.

For my "music element" I just used some design paper that is a copy of antique sheet music.
The large butterfly is a die cut from a whole set by K&Co. that I just bought! I sponged it with 5 colors of ink and added a bunch of Stickles. The Bible verse is a Verve stamp and I used Spellbinders -Labels 15 to cut it out. The cardstock and rhinestones are from my stash.

Please consider joining our challenge this week...we'd love to see what you create with some sort of music element in it! For more inspiration and to read a lovely devotional from Marilynn just go to the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge blog!

PS...
Well, I'm having kind of a "Duh" moment here! Reread my post and found a problem. I liked the Bible verse to go with the butterfly, thinking they were both sort of serene. However, the theme is MUSIC and those Bible verses speak of making music and singing to the Lord...NOT to be quiet! I know there is a time for each but I'm thinking I really chose the wrong one this time! Oops!

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #70: Fur & Feathers

Welcome to the new challenge at Shopping Our Stash! This week we have been asked to created something that includes our "Furry or Feathered Friends"- anything that features furry or feathered friends! Any animal, bird or animal/bird print paper -No Insects or spiders, please! You have until Oct. 2  to enter your creation in this challenge!
Here is the card I came up with:

The polkadot cardstock (DCWV) and the striped paper (My Mind's Eye) have both been in my stash for over a year now. The little rooster stamp is one I bought last year and never used yet. It is a CDS stamp. The buttons are probably the oldest...I collect them wherever I find them, even removing them from old clothes before discarding. Anyone else do that? The sentiment is computer generated.

I am entering this in one other challenge:

SSiC Challenge #158

Challenge:
Create a card/project with something handmade on it!
Could be a flower, stitching, patterned paper - show us your creativity!

Scripture:
Psalm 139:14
"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."

Sponsor:
A Day for Daisies - www.adayfordaisies.com/stamps/

Prize offered to one randomly drawn name:
$12 gift card

Hostess:
The lovely Linda
Please check out the devo she wrote about Psalm 139:14 at the main blog, SSiC,
or at her own blog. Inspirational thoughts!

Ok, I made this challenge SO much harder than necessary! It took me forever to make this "easy" card! I usually like making my own flowers but just coming up with what to use...oh, my! I sorted through my supplies again and again and while looking for something else came across the dried corn husks. Ahh yes...perfect for fall! So that is my handmade item! And, yes, it could also be considered a bow...so whatever you want to call it is fine with me.

The other ingredients:
The bird image is from our sponsor, A Day for Daisies, called "Flitter", colored with colored pencils
Gingham background paper is one of the "Rustic Gingham" digi papers from Daydream Designs
The Spellbinders "Labels 4"die cut was spritzed with Smooch Spritz and dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, then lightly inked
The sentiment is computer generated
The brad and other papers are from my stash

Hope you feel inspired to join our challenge this week at Stampin Sisters in Christ! We'd love to see what handmade items you create!

Let's Be Friends!

Hello, and happy Saturday to you all!
Today I got to spend quite a bit of time in my craftroom...made 2 cards! The first one was for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ DT and is scheduled to post early tomorrow morning. The 2nd one (THIS ONE) is for a couple other challenges: House Mouse and Word Art Wednesday!
I made an easle card with a window in it and 2 friendly mice...one on the outside and one on the inside!
The Bible verse is the freebie this week at Word Art Wednesday.

I took this picture at kind of an odd angle so the Stickles* would show up better...but its still hard to see!
The 2-sided DP is TPC Studio which I bought at Tuesday Morning (a real deal!) and I just LOVE it! You'll probably see more of it often!

The two HM stamps* are "Maxwell- Feelin' Rosy" and "Contented Mudpie", both colored with colored pencils, and a touch of glitter. The dies used are all Spellbinders*, "Standard Circles Lg", and my brand new one (!) "Labels 20".
*all of the starred items were purchased at www.stampingscrapping.com

The only problem with easle cards with the window is where to put an inside sentiment. I may resort to putting a note on the back of the card...it is light-colored and even has lines!

So the challenges I'm entering this in are:

Emboss It! SOS Challenge #69

Hello everyone!  This week at Shopping Our Stash the challenge is to use EMBOSSING! Your project must contain something embossed, using either heat or dry methods or both!  The talented DT has some wonderful samples to inspire and encourage your creativity! Check out the main SOS blog as well as the individual DT members' blogs...they're all listed in my sidebar!

For my card I decided on a Christmas card because I love the scrolly letters of that sentiment when richly embossed with gold or silver. I used Gold Embossing Powder from PSE, which has been sitting in my stash for over a year...and that was after it sat in my MIL's stash for several years! She "gifted" it to me along with her heat gun! I also used Tim Holtz/Ranger "Distress Embossing Ink".
I also wanted to use a Sizzix embossing folder I bought on sale last year and never used yet! It is called "Evergreen" and this tree-lover here is thrilled with the dry embossed effect. I even dabbed a little white ink on it to make the detail show a bit better.
The green cardstock is from my stash and the print holly paper is from The Paper Studio.
The die cut is from the Spellbinders "Fleur de Lis Accents" set.
Rhinestones and ribbon...from my stash as well.
And a touch of Stickles, as always!

Hope you will join us for this easy challenge at Shopping Our Stash!
Everybody likes to emboss, don't they?
See you there!

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #157

Here we are...back for another challenge already! Here are all the details:

Challenge: Make a Harvest card or Fall/Autumn card (or project!)

Challenge Hostess: Kris Breach
Kris has written a wonderful devotional about the Bible verse she chose for this week's challenge. I highly recommend visiting her blog for some inspiration!

Scripture“Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary” Galatians 6:9

Sponsor: Sweet n' Sassy www.sweetnsassystamps.com giving 3 digitals of winner's choice!

My card:

Now this may not look like an autumn card but it really is! With the cooler weather we are enjoying, alot of my flowers have started blooming again! And all my neighbors have lots of beautiful mums...definitely Fall flowers!

The leaves die set I used is from Spellbinders, called "Foliage" and the flower I made by layering several different little punches: Martha Stewart & EK Success. The little sentiment is from My Mind's Eye. All of the cardstock is scraps; the background paper was spritzed with Smooch Spritz- "Lavender".

Hope you can join our challenge this week at SSiC! For more inspiration please visit the blogs of my fellow DT memebers, listed in my sidebar! They've done an amazing job again this week with the harvest/fall/autumn theme! Enjoy!

SOS Challenge #68: 3, 2, 1

Hello everyone!  Time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash!  This week we are asking you to countdown- a 3, 2, 1 challenge!   Use three of something, two of something and one of something!  You can have other elements too, but just be sure to specify what you are counting!

For example: three different papers, 2 card stock colors, one image- or three buttons, two ribbons,  one embossed panel.  Check out my fellow DT members' blogs for more inspiration! Just click on their names in my sidebar.

Here is my card:
I used 3 Prima flowers, 2 background  DP's, and 1 sentiment

The print DP is another TSP paper; it has glossy parts of the design that were a little hard to photgraph because they wanted to just turn white. The flower centers I've had for a few years. They are cloth-covered brads which I re-colored with orange and red inks, then topped with Stickles.
Please join us this week for this fun challenge at Shopping Our Stash!

SSiC Challenge #156 "Bright Colors"

Happy Sunday, my friends!
Glad you could stop by for a minute.
The new challenge this week at Stampin' Sisters in Christ is:
use only bright colours, no neutrals, blacks, browns, etc.
Our Happy Hostess this week is Jerusha!
Sha chose the following Bible verse as the theme verse for our challenge:

Romans 3:23-24
" For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins."
What wonderful verses! Jerusha has some devotional thouhgts on these verses which you can read on the SSiC blog or on her blog (see sidebar).

We have another very generous sponsor again this week who has offered to give, as a lovely prize,
one stamp set of the winner's choice(!) from:

The Craft's Meow
The Craft's Meow

So here is the card I made using bright colors and NO neutrals!

The cute frog image is from Pollycraft, who are no longer in business, but some of their adorable images can still be purchased from http://www.littlemissmuffetstamps.com/(I think!).
I colored him with colored pencils but when I photgraph that it looks a little faded...something about the colored pencil stuff catches the light differently. :(
The DP's are all from my stash as are the buttons.
The HB stamp is Imaginations.

This is a really fun, cheery challenge this week...using all bright colors! Hope you join us and show us YOUR creation! For more inspiration check out all my DT sisters' blogs...they are all listed in my sidebar under SSiC DT. Happy crafting!

Daydream Designs Fall Beauty

Today I am beginning a grand excursion into FALL! I LOVE fall and always look forward to the cooler weather, beautiful leaves and new schedules! For the month of September I have some new digital images I will be working with. Some are pre-colored, some are not and I will color them myself using a variety of techniques.
But for today I want to show you the card I just made yesterday!

This "thinking of you" type card is for a neighbor suffering with cancer. I thought the image was so perfect for the fall days soon to come. The bushel basket with gourds image is from the set called "Bushel and a Peck". The images are designed by Diane Noble and the colorization is done by Kris Breach...two VERY talented ladies! Aren't the colors lovely and rich?! The sentiment is from the set "God's Comfort". Both digital image sets are from Daydream Designs. They are so easy to work with....I'm loving them!

I added just a few embellishments:
A few "fussy-cut" leaves stamped with a Studio G stamp,
Ice Stickles- "Lemon Ice"
Sheer ribbon, glass bead drops and leaf brad - from my stash

I am going to enter this card in just a few challenges:

SOS Challenge #67- "Wooden It Be Nice"

If you are looking for the SSiC Birthday Blog Hop
scroll down to the post below!

Today the new challenge (#67) at Shopping Our Stash is:

Wooden It Be Nice -- Use anything that reflects wood, such as woodgrain, wood embellies, trees, log cabin, etc.

For my "wood" card I used trees! I have been in the mood for some sparkle lately so I used several colors of Stickles (and a couple JAS, too). There is a hint of fall in the air already so my fall colors just sort of "happened"! The trees stamp is from Stampin' Up, "Thinking of you" is from CDS, and the olive rhinestones are from Pizzazz Aplenty. Cardstock, from my stash. (The off-white is Cryogen).

The other girls on the DT did some amazing cards this week! We'd love it if you'd visit their blogs for some inspiration and join the challenge! Just click on their names in my sidebar.
Thanks for stopping by!
