Happy Birthday, Sara!

My dear DIL's birthday was Nov. 3...the same date as her due date for her first baby! Well, now she is overdue! She and my son, Jeff, are so anxious to meet this little one. They purposely did not find out the sex so we'll all be surprised! So if she's not in the hospital tomorrow we are going shopping to find her a birthday present.

I used both the sketch and the color theme from the Creative Blooms challenge blog!
AND lots of Fun Stampers Journey products (listed below).

FSJ Products used:
Papers- Whip cream, Festive Patterns
Dies- Summer Bloom Minis, Doily
Stamps- Birthday Sketch (sentiment)
Inks- Green Olive, Huckleberry Fusion
Sequins- Blue Skies

Other Products used:
Dies- Spellbinders "Cherry Blossoms" (leaf)
Ink- TH Distress "tea dye"

Birthday Greetings!

My granddaughter Pearl is turning 17 next week, so here is the card I made for her.
I used the sketch from the Creative Blooms Journey blog challenge for the month of October.
For this card I used almost exclusively Fun Stampers Journey products: dies, papers, inks, and stamps (6 different stamp sets!).
Any questions on what I used or how...just leave me a comment and I'll get back with you!

Birthday Sketch

A not-so-quick card this afternoon using the sketch from Creative Blooms Journey.  It looked so simple! But all those tiny squares had to match and be placed just so.... Yikes! Took hours instead of minutes! But I like the end result. I used two background stamps (Paper Floral & Playful Leaves) and the colors from the color crush on the FSJ Facebook page. (I used color crush A). The  colors are Pretty Pansy, Cranberry Bliss, Pumpkin Bread, and Sweet Pear. There's Journey Glaze in there too!

I'm entering this card in the challenges at:

I'm Back!

I can't believe I haven't posted on my blog here since mid July! The end of the summer was VERY busy! We took a wonderful trip to the UP in Michigan then went camping for 2 weeks. Then it was time to jump back into the Fall activities: BSF and Sunday School preparations (I'm superintendent!).
Tomorrow is Sunday School kick-off and I think I finally have everything ready (I hope!)

A dear friend and fellow cardmaker lost her husband to cancer about two weeks ago, so I wanted to make a really nice card for her. I hope she likes it. It was made with a combination of different crafty products...I won't post a list, but if you want to know, just leave a comment.
The flower centers are tiny glass beads!

Butterfly Love You

My 2nd post this evening! Here is another card for the same challenge as the last one, but this time I used the colors instead of the sketch. I couldn't find a print background paper that I liked so I made my own using one of the butterfly stamps and th esame blue ink. Again, almost all the supplies I created with are from Fun Stampers Journey! I'm a Coach with the FSJ company and have been gradually adding to my stock of their products. Below, I'll list what I used.

The color requirements are these:

Looks like my blue is a little "off".....hmmmm. Not sure what I did there. Must have picked up the wrong one. Oh well. Its close!
The challenge can be found at www.creativebloomsjourney.blogspot.com - #6

My list of ingredients:
From FSJ: Inks, whip cream cardstock base, Sparkle Dust fine glitter, stamps from 3 sets- "Enjoy the Journey", "With Love", "Wonderful Day" and dies called Journey Circles.
Also used other cardstock, adhesives and foam squares...from my stash!

If you are interested in Fun Stampers Journey...in their products or in becoming a Coach yourself (!)...please check my sidebar; there is information on the company, and a website to visit. Or leave me a message so I can contact you!
Thanks for stopping by!

A July Birthday Card

Just finished a floral birthday card, made with mostly Fun Stampers Journey products, and created for one of their challenges: the one at www.creativebloomsjourney.blogspot.com
This month, as always, they have 2 challenges, one with a sketch and one with a color scheme. I did the sketch challenge for this card. Here's the sketch:

A Christmas Tag

Here's a very simple Christams tag in traditional Christmas colors. I got a new set of alphabet stencils and "needed" to play with them! I used Fun Stampers Journey inks for the J and the Y (Sweet Berry & Green Olive) and silver Stickles + a layer of FSJ Sparkle Dust for the O. The base is kraft card stock; I trimmed the 2 ends, punched the hole, and finished it all with a tinsel bow.

Happy Father's Day Brights

Another Father's Day card! I think this is the one I'll give to my hubby. The tropical leaves will undoubtedly remind him that we need to make plans for another all-inclusive or cruise to some place tropical! (I sure hope so anyway!)

The stamp set I used is from Fun Stampers Journey called "Hang in There" and the inks I used are the same ones I used on my last card which is posted just below this one. Same twine too. The background paper is FSJ "Whip Cream" which is a lovely just-slightly off-white.

FSJ Summer Colors Card

This evening I'm posting a card I've been working on for a couple days now. I borrowed the stamps and dies from my friend Sherry, who ordered them at a card-making class I had a few months ago. I am a Coach with Fun Stampers Journey, a new and uber-creative craft company headquartered in Phoenix, AZ. This is one of my favorite sets of stamps with matching dies, both called "Flower Party".

The colors and layout of this card were inspired by the challenges at Creative Blooms...a challenge blog for FSJ products. It is the June challenge and goes until the end of the month.

Here's what I used to make this one:
Stamps- FSJ "Flower Party"
FSJ "Greet & Shout" (Smile!)
Dies- FSJ "Flower Party"
FSJ "Journey Circles" (corners)
Twine- "Journey Twine- Black"
Inks- FSJ "Blue Lagoon", FSJ "Sweet Berry", FSJ "Black Licorice",
Stampabilities "Lime Green", Stampin' Up "Sun"
Cardstock, foam squares and rhinestones are from my stash.

Red, White and Blue B-day!

Hello, Blogger Friends! Its been a rather busy month so not much time for posting on my blog lately. But today I will show you a card I made for my son-in-law's birthday, which was Tuesday, the day after Memorial Day. He is a veteran so I thought the red, white and blue theme with stars and stripes was very appropriate.

I used a new embossing folder that I simply HAD to try out...the Sizzix TH Diamond Plate. I used a piece of  foil coated paper so it really looks like diamond plate! Love it! Very manly, don't you think?
Other ingredients:
Stamps- "Happy Birthday" by Stampin Up,
Bible verse by Verve,
Birthday greeting by ??? (Amish booth at Shipshewana)
Paper/cardstock- Paper Studio and my stash
Ink- Black Licorice by Fun Stampers Journey
Ribbon and stickers...from my stash

For Mom....Sweet Memories

Here's something really unusual for me to do, a scrapbook layout page! I did an 8 1/2 x 11 so it can go in a frame easily. I found a couple old pictures I had saved on my computer and printed them on photo paper in sepia tones. Used a whole bunch of different stamps and dies!

Whoo Hoo! Owl Celebration!

And yet another quick post, again for the challenge at www.creativebloomsjourney.blogspot.com! They are having both a color challenge and a sketch challenge...you can do one or both...together or seperate. I chose to do only the colors on this one.

So here is what I came up with, using almost all Fun Stampers Journey products!

Happy Birthday with a Cherry on Top!

Today I spent a little time in my craft room...took out my Fun Stampers Journey stamps again and made a card for one of their blog challenges, well, actually 2 of them: a sketch and a color challenge at

So here's what I came up with combining the 2 challenges:

The FSJ stamp set I used for the cupcakes and "Happy Birthday" is called 'Birthday Sketch'. I paper-pieced the cupcake papers so they match the paper colors I used, and used alcohol markers to color the cherries. Then I added some FSJ 'Sparkle Dust' glitter on the frosting for some Birthday pizzazz!

FSJ "Kit of the Month" for April

Kind of a dreary spring day...I need to remember that "April showers bring May flowers"!
Showers, clouds, raindrops...and children enjoying the puddles...that's what the theme is for the 'Kit of the Month' from Fun Stampers Journey!

The Kit of the Month is availble from Fun Stampers Journey. You can sign up for it through their online website/store or you can contact me and I can help you.
Here are the 4 cards I made with the kit. I tweaked them a bit to suit my own taste and style.

The little boy and girl are SO cute! My kids used to love splashing in puddles from the warm Spring rains. I can even remember doing that myself while growing up in Fontana, Wisc.
Notice the pink and blue card above...I was thinking I could even use that one for a "welcome baby" card!

The kit includes a new (just released) set of stamps, all the paper pieces, including the pre-die cut ones (so you don't need any special equipment), embellishments, and instruction sheets with color pictures and step-by-step directions. All of the products included are available at Fun Stampers Journey!

For more information please check out the FSJ website or contact me...just leave a comment!
Thanks so much for stopping by on this chilly, rainy day!

Hippity Hop Congrats

A quick card this evening...the hardest part was the coloring! And even that went surprisingly quickly! I haven't made a baby congrats card for a while and several moms-to-be at my church are just about ready to "pop"! I also haven't used a House Mouse stamp in a while. They are so, so cute! I love the mice but these plump little bunnies are just extra adorable.

Ingredients:
Stamps- Stampabilities "Bunny Buggie"
SweetStamps "Elegant Scrollwork Frame"
Stampin' Up "Congratulations"
Fun Stampers Journey "Be Mine" (heart)
Inks- Fun Stampers Journey "Black Licorice",
Alcohol markers, colored pencils
Card Stock- Paper Studio Kraft
Glitter- Stickles "Star Dust"
Natural twine, button...from my stash

Thanks for stopping by! May you have a very blessed Easter!

Make It, Live It, Share It!

Good Morning!
All this month the folks at Fun Stampers Journey have had a "challenge" of sorts where we are encouraged to make some sort of paper craft project and give it to someone else! We are to take pictures of both the project and the 'giving' and then 'share' it on our blog and theirs! Doesn't sound too difficult, does it! So why did I wait until the last day to do it?! Let's just say, that's sorta how we roll! Next time I'll do better! Really!

So for my project I made a cute tag for the birthday gift I'm giving my granddaughter, Alicia. She is turning one on April 30 but we are celebrating her birthday early along with other family members tomorrow evening. At one year old, she won't know the difference...but we won't be able to do that much longer!

Part of Alicia's gift will be the socks (because Mom requested them!) and the rest of the gift I still have to buy and she'll get it on her real birthday. The cute owl stamp was so perfect for this tag...made me think of a Grandma and Granddaughter! And I used so much pink because this little girl is VERY often dressed in pink. She has 3 older brothers and was greatly anticipated!

And here are all the fine Fun Stampers Journey products I used for this project:
Journey Inks- Sweet Berry & Black Licorice
Journey Stamps- With Love & Hoo, Hoo
Journey Ribbon- Bubble Gum, Satin
Journey Card Stock- Whip Cream & Watermelon Fusion
And I just noticed, the jar of Sparkle Dust glitter (in the photo)...which I forgot to use!
Instead I used some sequins from my stash and
Journey twine in Natural.
The owls are colored in with alcohol markers.

Now for the 'Giving' part...which won't happen until tomorrow evening....I already know that Alicia will love the crinkly plastic of the package the most!! Her mom will love the socks and the cute tag!
And I loved making the tags! Pink, pink and more pink! Never too much pink!
Here is the little recipient of the gift and tags herself:

A Special Fold Anniversary Card

Good morning, Friends!
The past few days I've been working on a card with an unusual fold...simple, but one I'd never seen before! What fun to give it a try! I saw it on the SweetStamps blog...its the challenge this week. It is called a Quarter Fold card. You close it up just like you would a box  by tucking in the last flap under the first layer.

I love to use the old fashioned gentleman and lady for anniversary cards...they make such a quaint couple! SO proper and elegant! Here are the items I used on the card front 4 panels:
Stamps: from SweetStamps- "Gentleman Joe", "Margery", "Italian Handwriting", "Parisienne Collage"
from StampingScrapping- "Congratulations" set, "Rose Fleur de Lis" set
from Sandylion- "Are we there yet?" set
Inks- Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Vintage Photo" & "Tea Dye"
Stickles glitter glue "Star Dust"
Pizzazz Aplenty flatback pearls in white
Alcohol markers, cs and various embellishments from my stash
and what you can't tell, of course, is that I used my new favorite acrylic blocks for stamping!
They are from Fun Stampers Journey where I am now a Coach! If you'd like to learn more about FSJ please look at my side bar and/or check out my very own FSJ website: www.FunStampersJourney.com/335

On the inside I used:
Stamps- SweetStamps "Rose Corner" again
Inkadinkado "Love & Friendship" set
Stampin' Up "Ever After"
Verve "Love the Lord" Bible verse
(unbranded) "Love"
the same inks and markers
Die- Die-namics "Flourish"
Stickles and embellishments again

Here are the challenges I will be entering this one in:

Best Wishes for Spring

Here's a fun little card decked out for Spring! Spring colors and flowers too!

I made this one using my Fun Stampers Journey craft items :
lavendar cardstock and matching ribbon,
ink and Journey Glaze,
sentiment stamp and "Damask Print" stamp, and
a banner die cut (straightened a bit).
The only items not FSJ are the orange and cream stripe cs, the flower,
the button and the Spellbinders label die cut.

My card fits both challenges so I will be entering it in both.

A VERY Green Sympathy Card with FSJ

It is a beautiful sunny evening in Michigan! It got up to 46* today...the snow is melting...the smell of Spring is in the air! I know we probably aren't done with Winter yet but the promise of Spring is evident. The change of the seasons...especially Springtime...reminds me of God's perfect plan for renewal. Fall and Winter seem to proclaim death but Spring brings new hope and new life. Great reminder that even though we all must face death, those of us who die "in Christ" (believing in His saving work on the cross) will rise again to a new life. We have the "Hope of Heaven"!

Butterflies on a sympathy card seem very appropriate to me...that promise of renewal.
The glitter looks a bit blue but its really not...just VERY sparkley! My favorite!

All of the products I used to make this card are from Fun Stampers Journey. That's the crafting company I joined a few months ago. They have so much amazing stuff in their line-up! Everything from beautiful, intricate designs to artsy flowers to cute children's favorites; paper, ribbon, twine, inks, stamps, dies + more! For more information about FSJ you can check out the website or read a little about it in my sidebar. If you'd like to become part of this fun and successful company you can email me with questions (but everything you need to know is really on their informative website!). My email is Fivensandie<at>aol.com
I'd love to hear from you! And a NEW perk is they just revealed 2 more Starter Kit options which are smaller than the original so you don't have to invest as much if you don't care to. To see all 3 options go to Fun Stampers Journey and click on "Become a Coach". Why not make money doing what you love and have the fun of working with great products and wonderful people?!

Ok, back to my card! Here are the items used...all from FSJ:
Stamps- "Damask Print",
Greet & Shout" (oval),
"Enjoy the Journey" (butterflies),
"Thoughtful Greetings" (sentiment)
Dies- "Butterflies"
Inks- "Green Olive", "Black Licorice"
Glitter- "Sparkle Dust"
Ribbon- "Green Olive"
Paper- "Zombie Nights" (Green),
"Whip Cream" (white)
Rhinestones- OOPS! Not FSJ! They are from Pizzazz Aplenty!

Birthday Butterflies

Well, this evening I have my bags all packed, ready to head south tomorrow morning! Hubby and I are taking a quick trip to Gulf Shores...just 9 or 10 days. It has been unusually cold down there, but nothing like it has been around here. Grand Rapids, MI set some records for cold weather. We had -14 last week! So you can see, I'm looking forward to some warmth...and butterflies! They always make me think of summertime. This b-day card is for a friend whose birthday is the day after we get back so I had to get it done now.

It is a one-layer card using almost all Fun Stampers Journey products...only the sequins are not. The butterflies (from the "Enjoy the Journey" set) have either "Sparkle Dust" or "Journey Glaze" on them to dress them up a bit. And the natural and black twine tied along the fold is that nice stiff kind FSJ sells. Love it! The sentiment and inks are all FSJ too!
Fun Stampers Journey is a great new crafting company...lots of new products, new ideas and designs and a whole new way to earn money or product doing what you love: crafting! If this sounds interesting to you take a look at my FSJ wesite. If you'd like to order some of the lovely products, why not consider having a workshop and earn some hostess gifts!
For those of you who do not live near me, you can have an "on-line party" that you host...you just invite your friends to look at the FSJ catalog on our website and order right there indicating they are "attending" YOUR party! Very easy! You can just send invites via emails, post to your Facebook friends, hand out postcards, etc. Interested? Let me know! Leave a comment or email me at Fivensandie@aol.com.

Circles and Dots

Today I made a few different cards for people who need a little cheering up. This one is for a lady in my Bible study group who is 86 and usually VERY active...but took a bad fall on the ice a few weeks ago and hasn't been the same since. Dizzy and headachey and trouble walking. She loves hand-made cards so I'm hoping she enjoys this one!

The circle stamp and center stamp are from JustRite and I colored them with alcohol markers. The polka dot background paper is Imaginesce. The little "Get Well" stamp is a Clear Dollar stamp. The dark brown ink is Fun Stampers Journey.

CAS Sympathy Card

Sadly, we always do need sympathy cards and lately I've been in low supply. I need two this week already so I hope to make several that will be very similar...and very easy to make. CAS cards always seem more elegant to me...so appropriate.

I just got a new set of sentiment stamps and was able to try the lovely, scrolly "Deepest Sympathy" stamp for the first time. Then I found a font on my computer that matched perfectly (Marriage Script) to use for the inside sentiment. The new set is called "Thoughtful Greetings" from Fun Stampers Journey and has a variety of 9 favorite sentiments.
The card stock and paper are from my stash. The stamps I used: the circle is from the "Bluebell Remember" set by MME, the flower/leaves is from the "Leafy Swirls" set by Woodware. Black ink is "Black Licorice" from FSJ, lt taupe ink is Studio G.
Challenges:

Thanks for stopping by today! If you are interested in that lovely sentiment set you can order it easily by going to the Fun Stampers Journey website (just click on the aqua letters!) If you'd like to throw an on-line "party" and have your friends and family order some amazing craft items too...you will get "hostess" credit and could possibly get your stamps FREE. Check it out! Let me know if you are in the "party" mood!

CAS Notecard...Enjoy!

Quick post this afternoon. Here's a very "clean & simple" card I made for a challenge that allows only certain colors + black and white (not neutrals!), which is a bit more of a challenge. I like that!

The challenge is at 'CAS Colours and Sketches'. It is #109, The Double, meaning you must use both the colours and the sketch. Here are the requirements:

The colors I used matched a bit better in 'real life' but not so happy with the result of the photo above. The inks I used were SU "Close to Cocoa", Memento "Bamboo Leaves", StazOn "Oliver Green" (which is the dark one that looks more like forest green to me!) Oh well. I tried.
The stamps used: all Fun Stampers Journey,
"Banner Party" & "Greet & Shout"
The little clear dots I colored with the same inks. They are called "Twinkle Jewels" and are from StampingScrapping.com

Thanks for stopping by today! If you are interested in learning more about the Fun Stampers Journey company, please go to FunStampersJourney.com/335
