CAS Watercolor Card

Finally! A beautiful sunny day! Only a bit of snow left hiding in the shadows. My tulips are up 3-6 inches so far and my hosta plants are finally showing their little nubs above the ground.
I'm doing just a quick post here before I go out to wash my muddy car!
Today I decided on trying a CAS card again...and wonder of wonders...I think I actually did it!

The background I created using the "Rubber Band Technique" as suggested on the CAS Mix Up blog. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink "Antique Linen" on the rubber bands then did a metallic Pearlescent Watercolor wash over that. In the light it creates a nice shimmer.

I even used the metallic watercolor paint to stamp the bird, then fussy-cut it, raised it with foam mini squares and adhered it to the background.

So now that I've posted this I'm thinking I may add 3 small metal studs or brown pearls in the bottom left of the background piece...what do you think? Do I need to?

Besides the TH ink and the paint I also used the FSJ  "Coffee Bean" ink, FSJ stamp "Psalm 91:1" (bird), sentiment stamps from StampingScrapping "Say it Your Way" set, and Paper Studio heavy weight white cardstock.

Challenges I'd like to join:

Your background is gorgeous and so pretty. The rubber band technique looks fabulous. Love how you coloured the bird and popped him up to add dimension. Wonderful CAS card with the added technique. Thank you for joining us at The CAS Mix Up Challenge with this beautiful card x

I had to come back here from your Twofer post, Sandie, to read more about this beautiful design and I'm so glad I did so I can see that shine from the metallic paints! This is a stunning rubber-banded background for your bird! I don't think you need anything in the bottom left because there is a lovely dark area there. If anything - and really not necessary - maybe in the upper right where there is a little bit of an open spot? What do you think? I always keep a runner of removable tape on hand for times like this. I will slap on a strip, stick the pearls on and set the card across the room so I can see it from afar. If I don't like it, it rubs off and no one's the wiser! Hugs, Darnell

What a beautiful sympathy card, Sandie! I love it! The soft colored rubber band background is perfect for the occasion. I love the shimmer of the metallic Pearlescent Watercolor wash. The placement of the bird and the sentiment is well-balanced, so I don't think you need to add anything. The card looks totally completed. Hideko xx

This is beautiful and perfect as out is. I can see what you're suggesting about the three brads (Or similar), but I think as a sympathy card, it is perfectly classy and somber. Plus, right now it looks like it is easy to mail! (You know how some embellies make you question your postage and packaging!)
