Clayton Makes a Mother's Day Card

Today my 10 year old grandson Clayton is here...he didn't feel 100% this morning so he didn't go to school. His mom, Kate, has college classes this morning so he got dropped off here...and we've been having fun!
While Clayton was resting on the couch I checked my email and my blog and then headed for my craftroom. Guess who soon followed and asked "What can I make, Grandma?"
So while he worked and experimented I cleaned up my craft table and organized a bit.
He used my Cuttlebug, Spellbinders die, Glue Dots...lots of Glue Dots!...a Martha Stewart punch, my paper cutter, my Exacto knife, and LOTS of bling! Plus lovely cardstock, of course.
The card is for his mom and he left it blank inside so he can write a note to her himself.
He's such a sweetie! (He's grimacing as I say that!)

A Tree Planted by Streams of Water

"[Those who trust in the Lord] shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:8
The challenge at Stampin Sisters In Christ this week is based on the verse above; it is to have an image of something planted or to simply use the color green. I sent this card in as part of an application for a Design Team recently and I had chosen a very similar theme as my sample challenge. The Bible verses I had chosen were Psalm 1:1-4 which is also about the tree planted by the life-giving water. So this definitely fits this challenge!
Ingredients used:
Cardstock - K&Company "Julianne"
Spellbinder dies - Labels 15
Oak tree & leaves stamps - Stampin Up
Bible verse stamp - Verve
Brass embellishments - Michaels
Challenge entered: http://stampinsistersinchrist.blogspot.com/ - #137 Jeremiah 17:8,
something planted or something green

Butterflies in the Pink

In honor of my new PINK and green blog color scheme here is one more MD card that is definitely "in the pink"! The lovely butterfly stamp is a Sky Kids Inc. that I picked up at a garage sale last summer for 25 cents! (Its colored with colored pencils) The flower embossing folder I used was a Cuttlebug and the die cuts are from Spellbinders "Labels 15". The 2 challenges I'm entering this in are:

Thanks for taking a peek at my card creations today! Blessings to you & yours!

A Fresh New Look for Spring

Yes, you are at the right place...this is still Sandie's Card Garden. I've wanted to try this for some time now, taking a picture of my blog title with embellishments and crafting supplies and "whatever". I wish now that I had made the title and description a bit larger but this will do for now. As you can see, my theme colors are pink and green so that's what I used for the whole blog.

I first printed my title and description on a pink printed paper with flourishes on it. Then I added a few other prints and the die cut border. Some of the items I glued in place but most I just set where I wanted them and took several pictures. I cropped out everything except the exact rectangle I needed. These 2 photos show beyond the edges and a little more close up. I think it turned out "ok"....so I will probably have another go at it in a few weeks.
What do you think? Let me know how I can improve it...any suggestions are welcome!

Tilda with Butterflies

This is my newest Magnolia stamp, called "Will You Be My Valentine Tilda" and I thought her bouquet would be nice for a Mother's Day card. I can't decide if I will add "Happy M-D" on the front or just put it on the inside. And now that I have it posted I also see that I forgot to add some Stickles for a little sparkle. What I DID get done correctly was have lots of butterflies! I made my own background paper so I could get the colors to match.  The butterfly stamps are 2 sizes of the ones on the "Tab Basics 1" set from StampingScrapping.com. I stamped both sizes on vellum too, trimmed them and colored in a couple of them. They are colored with a Memento marker and colored pencils. Tilda is also colored with Memento markers and colored pencils but I used my Spectrum Noir markers for her skin and shoes. The die cuts are from Spellbinders "Anglaise Lace Circle Dies". The die cuts and the butterflies are raised a bit with Pop Dots and Stix 2 Anything mini squares. The little Bible verse stamp is from Prairie Peddlers.
This card meets the requirements of 2 challenges:

Mother's Day Card Using New Technique

This past Sunday afternoon Cindy from StampingScrapping.com did a tutorial live on Ustream from her Techniques and Tutorial site. You have to be a member to go on the site but it is well worth the reasonable monthly fee. There are new techniques taught weekly and products compared and usages explained almost daily...any questions about anything crafty are answered by Cindy or someone on her design team.
Anyway, this last tutorial was on how to emboss a die cut and then color it with ink and a blending tool. Very ineresting and very easy! So I gave it a try and...voila!

I used a poor quality white ink on the embossed die cut and its a little hard to see but I think you can see the effect I was going for. The ink makes the embossing stand out even more.
StampingScrapping Techniques and Tutorials has a monthly sketch challenge so I will be entering this card in that. And also in the SSCC at http://stampingscrappingchallengecentral.blogspot.com/ - "Mom/Girly".
The fiber-paper die cut purse and shoe are from Cindy's store: http://www.stampingscrapping.com/ as are the Spellbinders scalloped dies and the Cuttlebug embossing folder I used.
Questions about anything else I used? Just ask.
Oh, the cute little square rhinestones are from Pizzazz Aplenty.

A Masculine B-day Card

So here is my "masculine" birthday card...no frills, not even a die cut!

And here are the items used in making this one:

hot air balloon is a $1 stamp from Michaels
Cardstock: white, orange & blue are from my stash but the orange print
is from a new 5x7 pad from K&Company called "Julianne"
Twine: Mandarin Orange "Dream String" from Pizzazz Aplenty

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

Punch Challenge at SOS

The challenge I'm entering this card in required at least 2 punches and since I use mostly dies to cut my shapes this was a little harder for me. But then I looked back at the DT examples and realized I could also use a border punch. And that one is one of my favorites!
The challenge is at http://shoppingourstash.blogspot.com/ - #46 "Punch It Out"
The two punches I used are: "Doily Lace" border and "Chrysanthemum" by Martha Stewart.

The other items used are:
Cardstock - solid is Paper Studio, print is K&Company
"Happy Mother's Day" stamp - PSX
The 3-D flower is made with a Spellbinders die called "Bauble Blossoms Two"*
The gems are also K&Company
And as always, I've added "Star Dust" Stickles for extra sparkle!
The ribbon is from my stash...well, actually everything is from my growing stash!

*This set I got at www.stampingscrapping.com

I'm still making Mother's Day cards for the fundraiser, so here's another one!
This one will also be entered in a couple challenges, one that requires motion and the other that requires using Basic Grey cardstock. So that's what I did.

The "motion" is the 3 little butterflies that are on springs so if you touch them they "boing" a little bit.
Here is my list of ingredients:
Cardstock - Basic Grey, the "Ambrosia" collection
Spellbinders dies used - Labels 15 and Standard Circles Lg.
Magnolia stamps - "Tilda with Butterfly" and  the accessory stamps "Butterflies"
(all coloring is done with colored pencils)
Rhinestones and flatback pearls - Pizzazz Aplenty

Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Please leave a comment if you have a moment!
May each of you have a very blessed Easter!

Tea for Two...a Tea Party!

The HouseMouse Challenge this week is "Let's Have A Party" so I decided on a tea party because I have these new teacup stamps from http://www.stampingscrapping.com/ ...one of Cindy's newer designs. There is another set with a tea pot on it...adorable! The glittery cardstock I used is a gorgeous one by Coredinations called "Core Couture" (from Cindy's!). The glitter is permanent...you can even stamp over it! And its a multi-color very fine glitter. There is more glitter than shows up in the photos! This coral color that I used is called "Tiara".
Here's my little list of items used:
HouseMouse Stamps* - "Contented Mudpie" & "Feeling Rosey"
(colored with colored pencils)
StampingScrapping Design stamps* - "Tea for Two"
Cardstock - "Core Couture" by Coredinations*,
the white is Cryogen*,
the green is Imaginesce
Spellbinders embossing folder* - "Snow Flowers"
Rhinestones- "Bling It" by Basic Grey
Ribbon - from my stash...however...
I didn't like the color so I tweeked it a little, making it a brighter green by coloring it with a Spectrum Noir* marker. Worked great!
As always, the *'d items are from www.StampingScrapping.com !

The challenge can be found at http://housemouse-challenge.blogspot.com/
It is #116 "Let's Have a Party"

More Butterflies?

Yes, another Mother's Day card with butterflies! But these are on a printed cardstock from Basic Grey. This set was called "Ambrosia" and I think its a couple years old. The small print is also from that set. I really like the distressed effect around the edges of this paper. The light green is from a DCWV set; the light orange is Best Occasions "Textured Cardstock". The rhinestones are also from Basic Grey. The MD stamp is PSX.
The one challenge being entered is
http://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com/ - "How green is your spring?"
